Thank you to all of our active club members that made our Memorial Day Coffee Break a huge success.
Donations were on-par from the last couple of years, despite our closing down 3 hours early because of the threat of bad weather. Many travelers as well as club members look forward to these coffee breaks, and we see a lot of familiar faces every year.
Thanks again Kiwanians!!

Thank you to everyone that attended our Longaberger Basket Bingo.
While our numbers were slightly down this year, a good time was had by all club members, and everyone I talked to after the Bingo was over.
Our club holds two bingos per year, and along with the Pancake Day these two fundraising activities help us fund all of our sponsored programs. Look for our next Basket Bingo in the September/October timeframe…. Just in time for PANCAKES!!
If you would like to be on our mailing list to recieve a postcard announcing our basket bingos, please send an email to: basketbingo@kiwanisgth.org and give us your name, address, and phone number if you wish.
Special Thank You’s go out to:
V.F.W. for their generosity with the building.

A special thank you to Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett for taking time out of his schedule to talk to our club about his first 100 days in office. The mayor spoke of some of the challenges that his administration has faced, and how some of his personal skills are surprising some local citizens when he shows up on their doorstep!
In recent weeks our club has had the following speakers:
- Director of Exhibits from the Terre Haute Children’s Museum
- Indiana State House Representative
- Terre Haute Mayor

The exhibits director from the Terre Haute Children’s Museum gave a powerpoint presentation to the club on Tuesday April 1st.
Bob French talked about how he came to be involved with the Children’s Museum, as well as his plans for future exhibits in the new building.
Membership, Corporate Memberships, and fundraising was discussed.
Many in the club were interested to know how the museum was currently being used in conjunction with Vigo County Schools. Mr. French stated that some schools are taking advantage of the current museum for field trips, but that the new museum will have a much improved atmosphere for field trips, including a separate off-street entrance for bus loading and unloading.
With the recent ground breaking, current estimates have construction starting in May/June and the building opening by this time next year.
Plans have recently changed for the building, allowing neighboring Candlewood Extended Stay Suites to occupy the 4th floor of the museum with office space, and having the Museum occupy the lower 3 floors. This change has also allowed for the museum to have it’s own distinct look, instead of the design shown below:

For more information, please check out the Children’s Museum Website.
